Clare's Rock hostel and private shared self-catering accommodation provides private ensuite rooms for couples and families in a safe clean and comfortable environment.
It is best suited to those with their own transport as there are no buses coming to Carron.
We also specialise in group accommodation in the original hostel built in 1998 and cater for many universities and adult study groups from both Ireland, Germany and the U.K.
The hostel is located in the rural village of Carron at the top of the Burren mountains and is part of a traditional Burren farm.
The village is the birthplace of Michael Cusack, the founder of the G.A.A.(Gaelic Athletic Association). In the hostel there is a colours museum with jerseys from every county in Ireland, including the colours of New York and London as both participate in the championships.
The Burren way (marked walking trail) passes through Carron. Along the trail you can see, Parknabinnia wedge tomb, Chathair Chomain stone fort, the largest Turlough (disappearing lake) in western europe, fullachta fia (ancient cooking site), and large areas of limestone pavement including the Mulloghmore national park. Much of the trails are on green roads.
In 2010 the Carron loop walk was opened and is proving to be a great sucess.
In 2012 the Turlough looped walk was opened and extended to include Termon Church (Teampeall Cronin).
There are also marked walks in the nature reserve at Mount Carron and in the nearby Muloughmore national park.
